报告中,李教授介绍了其团队提出了一种基于石墨薄膜用于反渗透脱盐的分层多尺度孔隙结构的离心分离机。它的结构是在离心机的墙上有设置微米大小的孔,在覆盖微米大小孔隙的局部石墨烯膜上有纳米级的孔隙,这样它就可以在工业规模上完成海水淡化任务。研究还对渗透压、离心力和透水性之间的关系进行了分子动力学建模和分析。若以后能成功地制造这种纳米孔型离心机,可能会为水资源问题提供一个根本的解决方案,从而可能彻底改变膜脱盐技术。
海水淡化一直是全球关注的一大热点,一种新型高效的淡化技术势必会对人类的生存环境造成重要影响。报告最后,李教授还与大家就有关海水淡化的问题进行了深入的讨论。

He joined the faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Li has also been a visiting Changjiang Professor in the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China (2007-2013). Dr. Shaofan Li is the recipient of IACM (International Association of Computational Mechanics) Fellow Award [2017]; Distinguished Fellow Award of ICCES [2014]; ICACM Computational Mechanics Award [2013], USACM Fellow Award (2013), A. Richard Newton Research Breakthrough Award [2008], and NSF Career Award [2003]. Dr. Li has published more than140 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals (SCI) with h-index 42 (Google Scholar), and he is also the author of two research monographs/graduate textbooks.
